i don't really think much of the replies in here are true. women go to college for a wide host of reasons, and especially because they'd otherwise not have lots of opportunities. black women, for instance, have the highest education rate because their communities are devoid of career choices or at least devoid of ones that women can do. to an extent it'd also be due to a lack of opportunity for them to rely on a man for support, (black man are incarcerated at high rates) but this is on reason among many, and of course women like everyone else have aspirations. women who are educated may expect a higher standard of man, but it is not clear that this why they become educated, though it is plausible.
