For men, something is lost during the passage from childhood to adulthood. A sense of liberty, of blissful freedom and no responsibilities is something that they will never experience again because being an adult for a men means having to deal with responsibilities, with external pressure, with expectations from society. For such a man, elements that can make him recall his childhood invoke a deep sense of nostalgia because he associates these things with the lost world of innocence that he experience when he was a child. Such hobbies, for men, are a refuge from the harsh reality of adulthood.

But what is puberty for females? It's just a biological process. Society doesn't demands responsibility from them, it doesn't demand that they take control of their lives and the lives of others, it doesn't demands that they lose the uncaring ways of a child. It's the contrary, for females, puberty means more freedom, because she can engage in cocaine fueled bareback orgies that she couldn't when she was a child. For a female, the sense of nostalgia that a man experiences when he is reminded of his childhood doesn't exists, because the pattern of her life doesn't change during puberty.

It does changes latter, when she hits the wall circa 35/40 years of age. So, while man have nostalgia about their careless childhood years, females feel nostalgia about their promiscuous and degenerate young adult years. When she thinks you pathetic for "playing with toys", it's basically the same feeling most men feel when they see a 50 years old female acting and dressing like a 20 years old girl, pretending that time didn't pass for her and looking back for lost ways.
