I got the Gear VR goggles for my Samsung S7 Edge last week. I only have a sample size of two women so far, so take it for what it's worth. But both women I have had play with it acted like it blew their minds.
1) My sister - Hates video games and technology in general. Had her flying around in a game and doing not bad in 2 minutes, clearly enjoying it.
2) Asian girl who was over tonight - Asked me with curiosity about the VR goggles sitting beneath my TV 5 minutes after sitting on the couch. Absolutely terrible at the game but still just texted me about what a "surprise" the VR was after she went home.
Here's what I've figured so far:
- Women have terrible visuospatial skills so they will almost never be good at video games that require skill or coordination.
- Women love seeing new things or experiencing pretty/passive events.
For both girls, I therefore had them start with the standard 360 degree 3D art that you get on the Gear VR. Both of them started looking around craning in all directions going "Wow!!! OMG!!! Oh look there's a bridge over there!!! Oh cool oh my gosh I didn't see the cliff!!!!" etc.
A big part of getting women to like you is eliciting certain positive states in them while they're around you and having them associate those states by conditioning with your presence. This is easy mode for doing that right now since most women have never experienced VR.
Soon VR will become so commonplace it will lose this special appeal. But right now I think it's worth the investment if you're getting girls over to have them play with it. I'm thinking my HTC Vive will pay much higher dividends for this purpose once it arrives. I'm sure I can find some simple/pretty/passive games girls will find enjoyable on it.
I will even likely start using this as a pull in dating. eg. "You should come by first before we go out. I just got a new VR system it's pretty cool you should try it." Girls will often feel the need to "rationalize" going over to your place. That is a common PUA concept. Giving them a "reason" helps them feel more natural about it. And this is actually a legit reason since it's seriously pretty cool.
