I have proof that the AI's input comes after yours. Here is what i did:

My heracross vs AI's latias
Latias has mist ball (i know cause i baited one with Swampert+protect)
I make a save state
I use endure anticipating a SE mist ball
It uses T bolt
I use endure again
It uses Ice beam
Again endure
It leaves me at 1 hp with dragon claw, salac kicks in, i win with MEGAHORN

Now, i run the savestate
Instead of endure, i go for Megahorn
Latias goes for Mist ball

The AI reads your move and responds to that. Its fucking rigged, unless you are fully protected against hax you cant win. The AI doesnt behave according to your team but according to your inputs!

Not true at least up until the 3D games which I havnt played. It’s litterally random.

its no random. i run the savestate multiple times and it always responds perfectly to your input. at least in ruby. i thik its random in emerald because the developers had to program more pokemon so it was harder to do

Oh ok naw you just gotta predict their moves

Trust me I play Xcom 2 the hardest strategy game of all time

If you can predict the enemies moves before they make them then you can easily win

Pokemon has no turn timer so you have infinite time to think before you make a move (same with xcom2)

meaning they will make the most beneficial move for themselves based off info they gathered from your decision

there is only a finite number of moves the AI can make based off any given decision you make

So you just have to isolate all possible reactions to every move you can possibly make in the game

You can think much further than the AI which is limited
