Lookism - The Forum
If you’re reading this for the first time, welcome. What is Lookism? Lookism is a forum for the discussion of aesthetics, looks discrimination, self-improvement, dating, and many other topics. Essentially, Lookism is a free speech platform which aims to allow its users to discuss their thoughts without any filter. That means that you can post about whatever you want. However, there are still rules on Lookism. These rules exist to maintain the quality and integrity of the forum. Of course there are also laws that we have to abide with.
Read the rules below. A good way to start with using Lookism is by reading this stickied thread. You can find all staff members here. Do not hesitate to reach out to them if you have any questions, concerns or need help with certain things. To contact the Lookism administrators, you can reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org or use the contact form.
Obliging by the rules is important on Lookism. Failure to do so will firstly result in warnings, and eventually can result in a permanent ban. Each warning gives you a certain amount of warning points, and if you exceed 20 points you will be banned for 1 week. Violation of rule number 1 leads to instant permanent ban. Please read the rules below and make sure to follow them. This will lead to a more pleasant and interesting forum experience for everyone.
Rule 1: NO DOXING.
This is how we define doxing: “search for and publish private or identifying information about (a particular individual), typically with malicious intent.”. Doxing is absolutely not allowed under any circumstances. If you are caught doxing, you will be permanently banned on the website across all IP ranges and accounts. Yes, we take it that seriously. Users should be able to post pictures and personal information if they please, without some delinquent trying to blackmail them. Threatening to dox someone or even implying counts as breaking this rule. Posting private pictures of users against their permission counts as doxing as well.
Even implying on third party media that you would dox any of our users is breaking this rule. It is our mission on Lookism.NET to enable users to post their pictures and personal information without worrying about any negative repercussions. Please don’t hesitate to report any suspicions of doxing to the moderation team. We will absolutely ensure that there is no doxing content of any kind whatsoever.
Rule 2: ILLEGAL CONTENT OF ANY KIND IS NOT ALLOWED.
What constitutes as illegal? ANYTHING that’s considered illegal by European Union law. Some examples of things this includes (but not limited to):
- Violent content.
- Content that threatens or advocates for harm on oneself or others
- Child pornography.
- Sexual discussion of minors.
- Purchase of illegal drugs or arms.
- Any other content that is illegal, promotes illegal activity or infringes on the legal rights of others
Rule 3: EXPLICIT CONTENT MUST BE POSTED IN SPOILER TAGS.
Lookism is not a porn or gore platform. The website should be usable by people in public or even at their place of employment without immediately facing repercussions. This means that explicit content is not allowed unless within spoiler tags and explicitly provided with a warning. This ensures that the forum is accessible for everyone.
Rule 4: EXCESSIVE HARASSMENT OR BULLYING IS NOT ALLOWED.
Obviously some degree of “locker room talk” is acceptable and even condoned. Users should be able to insult each other and have debates/arguments if they wish to do so. Where we draw the line though is constant/repeated harassment/bullying of the same user with no purpose except to cause grief and to annoy them. This does not enable productive discussions of any sort and thus has no purpose on the forum. Everyone should be able to enjoy a pleasant forum experience.
Rule 5: NO SPAMMING.Spamming speaks for itself. This includes shitposting. Shitposting is defined as making posts devoid of any content. This is subjective and up to the judgment of the moderating team, but should be fairly obvious. An example of shitposting is posting multiple threads which contain the same single sentence as the thread title and the content of the thread. Moderators take the final decision here.
Rule 6: NO RACE BAITING.
Lookism is not StormFront or a nazi website. Racial discussion is allowed, however we draw the line at purposefully creating threads in order to incite hateful racial arguments through “trolling”.
Rule 7: CONTENT MUST BE POSTED IN THE CORRECT SUBFORUM.
Subforums exist for a reason. You must post your thread within the correct subform. This should be obvious. Failing to do so will result in a warning and your thread being moved to the correct subforum. Do this multiple times and you will be banned.
Rule 8: NO ADVERTISING UNLESS AGREED UPON.
No unsanctioned advertising of other websites is allowed. If you wish to advertise with us you must contact us through the contact form in the page footer (https://lookism.net/misc/contact).
Rule 9: NO 3RD PARTY META DISCUSSION.
This implies that you do not make meta posts on Lookism that are irrelevant to Lookism. Obviously, posts on Lookism should be about the forum topics. For example, you can’t post a thread discussing why user "/u/SevereRetard" on Reddit posted about his new modelling contract the other day.
Rule 10: YOUR CONTENT WILL NOT BE DELETED.
According to the ToS, when you sign up on Lookism you agree to this. As such, we will not oblige with any requests to delete your content. The reason for this is we would end up with an empty forum in a short amount of time. The only content that can be deleted is that which infringes upon the rules of the forum. Do not message moderators with requests to do so.
Rule 11: NO EXCESSIVE ALTERNATE ACCOUNTS.
This rule speaks for itself. If found to have excessive alternate accounts (±>5), your accounts will be merged and you will be banned. This is at the staff’s discretion.
Rule 12: POSTS MUST BE IN ENGLISH.
You may not post in alternate languages unless you provide a translation. Everyone on the forum must be able to read your messages and thus we only allow posting in English. Perhaps we would consider adding subforums for communities of different languages once the demand is high enough.
Rule 13: NO META DISCUSSION.
The forum is not a "club house" where you can meet with your friends and discuss "social dynamics" of the forum. Lookism is about discussing aesthetics, LMS, and self-improvement. Your posts must be about a topic which is relevant to the forum, and posting about the forum itself simply does not contribute anything, and is frustrating to constantly see posts about. Just to clarify, you can post about "off topic" things, such as how your day is going, just not in the vein of "who are the current forum megastars"and so on. You will receive a warning, and your posts will be deleted if you engage in meta discussion.
