Police are appealing for witnesses after a 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in Cheltenham while walking home from school.

The incident happened in Brunswick Street between 3.50pm and 4.15pm on Monday 18 January, although the victim was too afraid to come forward and report it until Thursday 21 January.

The girl was walking with a friend when they were approached by a man who said he wanted to talk to them and then pushed the victim against the Matalan car park wall and sexually touched her. The assault stopped when a motorist drove by.

The offender, described as a black man, 6ft tall, with blue denim jeans, a black Puffa jacket with the hood up and a long navy scarf, ran off towards St Paul’s Road.
